A beloved pet tortoise named Myrtle has been reunited with its family in Mississippi weeks after disappearing during a deadly tornado outbreak.

A domestic turtle has been found alive after having disappeared during the devastating tornado that razed a rural area of Mississippi last week. The animal, called “Shelly” by its owners, was swept away by the strong winds that destroyed its home on the outskirts of Rolling Fork. Since then, the family had lost all hope of seeing it again.
