French President Emmanuel Macron "recalled" on Wednesday before the council of ministers that "the judicial authority is independent" and that "magistrates must be protected", after the conviction of far-right leader Marine Le Pen, a conviction that sparked attacks on judges.

In front of the government, the head of state reacted this Wednesday, 2 April, to the controversy caused by Marine Le Pen's sentence in the case of RN assistants, by supporting the judges attacked by the far right.

The Head of State also stated that "all litigants have the right to appeal," according to government spokesman Sophie Primas.
