Faced with possible sanctions against Google, Yahoo is positioning itself to acquire the Chrome browser and relaunch its strategy in online search.

It’s not often that the U.S. government openly contemplates breaking up a global tech giant. Yet that’s exactly the scenario playing out in federal court in Washington, where the Justice Department and 49 states are trying to convince Judge Amit Mehta that Alphabet should be forced to sell Chrome as a remedy for Google’s years of abuses in online search and advertising.
