ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) — Algerian authorities detained more than 1,800 migrants and dropped them off at the border with Niger in a record expulsion earlier this month, a rights group said Thursday.

"The case of the refoulés we receive from Algeria is a situation that disrupts the security balance (of Niger)", declared at the end of January General Mohamed Toumba, Niger's Minister of the Interior.
