- The Athletics are playing in Sacramento for at least three seasons while awaiting the construction of their permanent home along the Las Vegas Strip, marking the first time in 57 years the team has played outside of Oakland.
- All 14,014 tickets were sold for the game at the newly renovated 10,624-seat Sutter Health Park, which underwent more than $40 million in modifications to accommodate the A's, including a new two-story clubhouse.
- A's right-hander Joey Estes, with a 7-9 record and 5.01 ERA, made the game's first pitch, seeking to improve upon his 3-1 spring record and 7.56 ERA, and also seeking a better outcome than his previous start against the Cubs, where they had nine hits against him last Sept. 16.
- The Athletics and Sutter Health will share in some of the A's revenues this season as part of an uncommon arrangement, and while the team will be playing in West Sacramento, they prefer to be known as the Athletics or A's until they take a city's name in Vegas.
