Luis Medina PALM DESERT, Calif. (KUNA) – Dozens of local veterans gathered Friday near the VA Clinic in Palm Desert to protest proposed layoffs at the Department of Veterans Affairs. An internal memo obtained by the Associated Press mentions plans that would cut more than 80,000 jobs at the department. The memo also states the layoffs would restore the department’s staffing to its pre-pandemic level of about 400,000 employees.
