Ashwini Vaishnaw showcases India’s first onboard train ATM: All about it
- The Central Railway has installed India's first onboard ATM on the Mumbai-Manmad Panchavati Express, aiming to provide cash withdrawal options to travelers during journeys.
- The ATM is located in an air-conditioned chair car and allows cash withdrawals while the train is in motion. It has been set up in collaboration with the Bank of Maharashtra, as mentioned by CR's chief public relations officer, Swapnil Nila.
- This service is part of Indian Railways' Innovative and Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme and may also benefit passengers on the Mumbai-Hingoli Jan Shatabdi Express sharing the same rake.
- Railway officials noted that the ATM will be monitored for safety and performance and may be expanded to other trains if popular among passengers, as stated by Ity Pandey, the divisional railway manager of Bhusawal.
