Industrial production drops by 8.7 percent

The volume of industrial production lagged behind the one year earlier level by 8.7% in February 2025, based on working-day adjusted data, declined by 8.0%. Production dropped in every manufacturing subsection, at the highest rate in the manufacture of electrical equipment. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data, industrial output was 1.3% lower than in January 2025.

We looked at what could be worse than an 8.7 percent drop in industrial output. The answer? The volume of orders, the total order backlog, and the quantity intended for export also fell.

In February 2025, the volume of industrial production in Hungary fell by 8.7 percent, or 8.0 percent adjusted for working day effects, compared to a year earlier.
