The former deputy mayor, Devianee Ramchurn, was released on bail in the case of the suitcases. She was arrested and appeared before the magistrate Neela Ramdewor Naugah of the Court of Pamplemousses on Tuesday, 18 February. The Prosecutor Police lifted her objection to her release. The magistrate therefore ordered her release against two bails of Rs 200,000 each. Devianee Ramchurn is represented by Roshan Santokhee and Mayur Boodhun.
