Census questions all Aussies will answer

The Australian Bureau of Statistics confirmed that the 2026 census will include questions about sexual orientation and gender for respondents aged 16 and over.
The ABS will also introduce non-gendered terms for household relationships, while updates to parent country questions aim for more inclusivity.
Georgia Chapman of the ABS stated that the final questions will be determined based on over 1000 pieces of feedback and further testing in 2025.
