Church forgives nearly $1.3 million in medical debt

HAVERHILL — Some local families will find relief after one church offers a lifeline, erasing nearly $1.3 million in debt across the Merrimack Valley and nearby Middlesex County.

The governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, confirmed that US$927 million in medical debt will be eliminated for approximately 629,000 residents. The governor’s bill means a relief to the pockets of many residents with economic and health complications. Cleveland paid off millions of medical bills. Was yours one of them?

Signal Cleveland is looking for residents whose overdue medical bills were paid for by the City of Cleveland in the last two years. In 2023, the city put $1.9 million of its pandemic relief dollars toward cancelling medical debt for Clevelanders.
