Slovenia’s finance ministry floats 25% tax on crypto transactions

The ministry wants to follow the international regulation of this area, which aims for greater regulation, transparency and data exchange, with the Act on Tax on Profits from the Disposal of Crypto Assets.

The government has adopted a proposal to tax profits from the sale of cryptocurrencies and sent it for public debate. Cryptocurrency holders are expected to pay a 25% tax on profits when selling, which will be assessed from the date of entry into force of the law until the sale of the cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrencies are not taxed at all, while derivatives were taxed above average, at 40 percent.
