Czech Republic illegally collected mobile phone data, court rules. State apologizes to journalists
The Prague City Court has ruled that the state illegally collected so-called operational and location data, i.e. information about when, from where and with whom people made phone calls or texted. According to the court, such a practice is contrary to European law. The Ministry of Industry and Trade must apologize to journalist Jan Cibulka, who filed the lawsuit, and must pay the costs of the proceedings.
