At an air force base in Arizona, in the United States, some 50 Belgian soldiers are learning to operate the new F-35 fighter jets that the government purchased in 2018. The first pilots have already been fully retrained as F-35 pilots, a training that takes about six months. "We train our pilots here because the sun shines every day and because we have a lot of space," soldier Loïc Van Himst tells VRT NWS.
