Evaëlle, 11, put an end to her days after the ordeal that her teacher made her live: "The worst day of my life"

In France, a teacher is on trial for bullying. One of her students, an 11-year-old girl, allegedly committed suicide partly because of the teacher's behavior.

REPORT HEARING HEARING - This Monday, March 10, opened before the Pontoise Correctional Court the trial of Pascale B., a teacher suspected of having participated in the harassment of Evaëlle. The girl committed suicide in 2019. The case divided the educational community.

A new trial began on Monday 10 March at the Pontoise Correctional Court in France. A French teacher is tried for moral harassment on one of her students: Evaëlle. This 11-year-old student committed suicide in 2019. For the prosecution, the harassment suffered by the child would have contributed to the tragedy.

[Recital] The story of Evaëlle is that of an 11-year-old girl, harassed by her French teacher, inviting the child's pack to pursue bullying, insults and beatings. For the first time, a teacher will be held accountable for "harassment" in the Pontoise Correctional Court on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 March.

This week, the French teacher who is held partly responsible for the suicide of 11-year-old Evaëlle will go on trial in France. It is the first time in French history that a teacher has been tried for “moral intimidation” of an underage student. The teacher faces a two-year prison sentence and a fine of 30,000 euros.
