[Opinion] 1,000 researchers: Politicians – take research seriously

Swedish politicians must be on their guard so that science does not start to be questioned in the same way as it is in the US, write over 1,000 researchers in a variety of fields on DN's debate page. They are concerned about developments on the other side of the Atlantic and see similar tendencies here.

DN DEBATT. In the US, science is being questioned and the freedom of research is being deliberately undermined by ruling politicians. The same tendencies, to ignore facts and scientific findings that do not suit politics, are also visible in Sweden. Politicians must be on their guard – respect for knowledge is a cornerstone of democracy, write over 1,000 Swedish researchers.
