Germany's Easter peace marches underway in war

Traditional Easter marches took place in around 70 cities in Germany on Saturday. According to the Peace Cooperation Network, more than 100 actions were planned nationwide. In Berlin, around 1,800 people took to the streets, in Duisburg a few hundred. The dominant theme of this year's events is the planned upgrading in Germany.

Scores of traditional pro-peace demonstrations are taking place in Germany during the holiday season, fueled by concerns over the EU's rearmament amid the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Traditionally, most Easter marches have taken place nationwide on Holy Saturday, including in East German cities. This year, the demonstrations of the peace movement are marked by the German armaments.

Under the motto "Never again fascism, never again war" hundreds of people demonstrated in Schleswig-Holstein on Saturday. Various peace initiatives had been organized by the Easter marches.
