Air pollution: the Council of State considers that the State measures have "performed"

The acceptable thresholds for air pollution in Paris and Lyon are in the process of being met, stresses the Conseil d'Etat on Friday 25 April, which will not require a further financial penalty against the State.

The State escaped a new financial penalty on Friday 25 April 2025 concerning air pollution. The Council of State considered that the "measures taken have borne fruit" because no more areas in France exceed the pollution thresholds for fine particulate matter.

The State, which has been condemned on several occasions since 2017 for its failure to deal with air pollution, has escaped a new financial penalty on Friday, which was demanded by environmental associations, since the Council of State considered that the "measures taken (...) have borne fruit".
