The European Commission last week unveiled proposals to simplify sustainability and carbon reporting. The changes look nice at first glance, for example, making reporting mandatory only for companies with more than a thousand employees, compared to a quarter of the number previously. But in reality, they will likely have the same impact on farmers and food producers as if the simplification had not been implemented.
