Two by-elections are being held in the small town on Sunday. One is being run as an independent, having been a Fidesz member last year. Fidesz, which lost Fót after 26 years, is not supporting any of the candidates, but it's as if they don't even exist.
Tisza and Fidesz clashed over common European defense
Two committees of the European Parliament (EP) have supported a proposal for legislation to strengthen the European defence industry. Fidesz opposed it, while the Tisza Party supported the new legislation. This programme was one of the priorities of the Hungarian EU presidency, but Hungarian negotiators failed to reach a common position among the member states.
