Building permits for apartments in Germany fell 2.3 per cent in February from a year earlier, statistics office data showed on Thursday (Apr 17), underscoring the fragility of the nation’s troubled property industry.

In February 2025, the construction of 17,900 residential units was approved in Germany. As the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Thursday, this was 2.3 percent, or 400, fewer building permits than in February 2024.
