Flames captain Mikael Backlund to play for Sweden at world championships
Another member of the Calgary Flames will be suiting up at this year’s world championships. The Flames announced Tuesday that captain Mikael Backlund will represent Sweden on home ice for the tournament, which starts on May 9. Backlund is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he scored 15 goals and 32 points over 76 games for Calgary.
