Gas consumption in winter appears to have risen sharply

In Germany, more is being heated: gas consumption increased significantly compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the head of the Federal Network Agency is satisfied with the heating behaviour of German households.

The winter was noticeably colder than in the previous year, which is also noticeable in gas consumption. According to the Federal Network Agency, the increase in Germany amounts to around nine percent.

Private households and industry consumed much more gas this winter than a year ago. The regulator sees one main reason for this.

Lithuania consumed 5.7 terawatt hours (TWh) of gas in January-March this year - 3.6% more than in the same period last year, when gas demand reached 5.5 TWh, announced Amber Grid, the Lithuanian natural gas transmission system operator.
