Germany leads allies in $24B military aid package for Ukraine

Western allies want a "militarily strong Ukraine," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Friday, as his country pledged $12.4 billion in military aid, part of a larger combined $24 billion allied commitment.

Germany will deliver four more IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine this year. The US State Department announced that the country's ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, is resigning from her post. The allies promise Ukraine 21 billion euros in military aid.

Germany will send another weapon package to Ukraine, including more than 1,100 radar systems and anti-aircraft missiles, according to Defense Minister Pistorius.
