“When legislation is introduced to dismantle programs that promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion—programs designed to address long-standing inequities— it reveals a troubling disregard for our shared humanity. To pair this with imagery of legislators holding whips only deepens the trauma, evoking a dark and painful chapter in our state’s history,” part of the statement reads.
