Quick-thinking kid saves house from burning down in Port Hardy

A house on Upper Carnarvon Road in Port Hardy caught fire on January 21, and a youth at home alone helped contain the damage to one room.
Port Hardy Fire Rescue received the call around 7 p.m., with about 15 firefighters responding and managing the fire for roughly two-and-a-half hours.
The youth closed the door to the bedroom, which helped save the house, according to Port Hardy Fire Rescue Chief Brent Borg.
A GoFundMe has been started to support the family affected by the fire, which caused mainly smoke damage to the rest of the house.
