The HK gov't is seeking to ban the possession of e-cigarettes and other alternative smoking products in public by the end of April next year, along with other proposed measures to curb smoking in the city.

Smoking will also be prohibited while residents queue at arts and sports facilities, clinics and other places from next year, according to bill.

Hong Kong's new tobacco product regulations do not affect tourists, the government aims to strike a balance between protecting public health and economic interests, the South China Morning Post reported.
