Horrible year, but he continues

More than one democratic leader has considered, at some point during their term, voluntarily leaving office in the face of the harshness, intensity, and even cruelty of political struggle. They've surely spent days reflecting on whether it's worth continuing or better to abandon power (so attractive, by the way). Nothing could be more humane.
