Successful Hummel Challenge: More than 11 000 bumblebees counted in Bavaria

The Federal Nature Conservation rated the first round of this year's counting campaign as a success at the end of March. Rare or endangered specimens such as Heide- or Bergwaldhummel were also observed.

The Hummel Challenge in the spring of 2025 came to an end with great success. Within just three weeks, more than 11,000 Hummel observations were submitted to the observation platform Observation.org and the associated smartphone app ObsIdentify – a strong sign of the growing interest in wild bees and the protection of their habitats.
