Ontario education minister Paul Calandra has put the Thames Valley District school board – home to 84,000 students – under Queen’s Park supervision following a controversial three-day Toronto retreat by top officials last summer that cost $38,000. Investigators, auditing the board’s books, found a lack of financial oversight in the budgeting process led to a “deteriorating financial position.” Heather Rivers reports.
