ING defends sustainability policy at noisy annual meeting
ING defended its “science-based” sustainability policy at a noisy shareholders' meeting on Tuesday. After the meeting was temporarily stopped due to honking from climate activists and the police removed several people from the audience, CEO Steven van Rijswijk emphasized that the bank does not choose to abruptly stop fossil financing. Gradually phasing out certain sectors and staying in touch with companies would be better.
