Italy resumes migrant transfers to processing centers in Albania

Italy's right-wing government has made a third attempt to decide on asylum procedures outside the EU. 49 migrants were brought by ship to disputed reception centers in Albania.

Italian courts have banned the outsourcing of asylum procedures to Albania. Nevertheless, several migrants have now been brought from Italy to Albania for the third time.

The Italian Navy patrol ship Cassiopea arrived in the Albanian port of Shengin early Tuesday with 49 migrants rescued over the weekend in international waters south of the island of Lampedusa off Sicily.
