Japanese airport renamed after popular cartoon character
Passengers at Japan's Oita Airport will be treated to a unique experience for the next six months as it will be renamed in honor of the fictional character Hello Kitty, originally from Japan. The event is taking place as part of the Expo 2025 World Expo. After the event ends in October, the airport will revert to its original name.
Japan renamed the airport after Hello Kitty
The airport in Kunisaki, Japan in Oita Prefecture, was renamed after Hello Kitty. Special photo zones with Sanrio characters have been created for airport visitors, racks, stairs, halls and even the facades of the building are decorated, and at the entrance you can meet Kitty and My Melody and Kuromi rabbits.
