Jean-Claude Juncker on Pope Francis: "He was conspicuously slowed down"

The former Prime Minister and President of the European Commission is convinced that the Catholic Church is not today such as the head of the Church would have imagined upon leaving his post.

Jean-Claude Juncker met Pope Francis several times. He praises his attitude towards poverty and social justice and hopes that the next Pope will be a counterweight to authoritarianism and will carry on the message of Pope Francis. The question in the election of the new Pope should not be who it will be, but what he wants to do for the world and the Church.
