Those looking to hike the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail on Vancouver Island’s west coast will be out of luck this summer, as the province has yet to repair sections damaged by fall and winter storms.

Several important sections of the coastal Vancouver Island trail, which stretches from around Jordan River to just outside Port Renfrew, have been either washed away or blocked by fallen trees, according to a statement from B.C. Parks.

Juan de Fuca Marine Trail remains closed for upcoming summer

The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail will remain closed this summer after several fall and winter storms ravaged sections of the trail, requiring extensive repairs.
