The court order will force Sonoma State University to halt — for now —- its plan to suspend more than 20 academic programs amid a huge budget deficit, but it doesn’t extend to sports.

The order will last until May 1, the date of the parties’ next meeting. Until then, the school “should take no further action with respect to the suspension or elimination of academic programs.”
