Landfill expansion faces multiple hurdles
VERNON COUNTY - The issue of the suitability for siting of a landfill on the underlying karst bedrock under the Vernon County Landfill is increasingly creating barriers to the county’s proposed expansion of the facility. While some, including county board members and the board’s retained hydrogeologist, dispute the site is underlain by karst, Wisconsin DNR has reserved judgment pending further investigations.
