Mary Street School was a memorable stopover in the journey to higher learning

School days changed for Picton children, in 1954, with the opening of the new Queen Elizabeth School (QE). Built at the former location of the Picton Collegiate and Vocational Institute, which was destroyed by fire in 1952, it offered many features lacking at the old Mary Street School where my young friends and I had received our early education.
