Launched by the environment ministry, the programme marks a major step in bringing the country in line with EU goals, having been the last member state without a green public procurement plan.

The Romanian Government approved on Thursday the National Green Procurement Program, which will stimulate the purchase at central and local government levels of products, services and works with a reduced impact on the environment. The program was proposed by the Ministry of Environment, which stated that Romania thus complies with European objectives, being the only EU member state that does not have an action plan on green public procurement.
