Michigan native places highest among rookies in Iditarod sled dog race
A Farmington Hills native finished the highest of any rookie in the Iditarod, a world-famous sled dog race through the Alaskan wilderness. “It was amazing,” said Samantha LaLonde, 29, placing 15th out of 22 competitors who finished the race of more than 1,100 miles.
