Minister of Finance Kukies - Federal Government considering request for exemption from EU debt rules for armament

The German government is considering asking the European Commission for an exception to the European debt rules because of the planned massive investments in the German defence.

Germany is likely to apply to the European Commission with a request for an exemption from European Union borrowing limits in order to increase defense spending in the coming years without violating EU rules.
