Okanagan Indian Band elects new chief, council

Dan Wilson was elected as the new Chief of the Okanagan Indian Band on March 31, winning 277 votes against Byron Louis's 248 votes.
Ten councillors were elected, including Viola Brown with 402 votes and Allan Louis with 368 votes.
Returning councillors included Viola Brown, Allan Louis, Floyd Oppenheimer, and David Marchand.
A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for April 2 at the Head of the Lake Hall from 5 to 8 p.m.
