Pegida leader gets community service for insulting Muslim community

The police judge has convicted the 56-year-old leader of Pegida, Edwin Wagensveld, for group insult, insulting the mayor of Arnhem Marcouch and deliberately not complying with an area ban. He receives a suspended prison sentence of 1 week. In addition, he must perform 20 hours of community service. As a special condition, the Pegida leader must also deposit a sum of 500 euros into the account of Victims of Violent Crimes Compensation Fund.
