PELICANS USHER IN THE SPRING SEASON

Spring is in the air because the common pelican has been seen in almost all parts of the country and more bird species are flocking to the country. A birdwatcher in Hornafjörður says that the work gets complicated when there is so much going on in the birdlife. The pelican has come to clear away the snow. PELICANS USHER IN THE SPRING SEASON

Photographer Dave Petrick had his camera ready for the March 20 arrival of American white pelicans at Hales Slough Wildlife Management area on the east side of Big Spirit Lake. The Iowa Great Lakes are a common migration stop for one of North America’s largest birds. The guests with a nine-foot wingspan are known for their inland route from Mexico to the Upper Midwest and Canada.
