Protesters gathered in downtown Montreal to mourn victims and demand a new approach to policing after a string of deadly interventions.

A young female protester – who had previously been present at the bridge occupation protests and even appeared in a video by Blikk – allegedly punched a police officer in the face on Szabadság híd. The police took the woman out of the crowd and put her in a police car. While she was being taken away, according to our correspondent on the scene, she shouted violently, mainly that what happened was an accident.

Meanwhile, some of the protesters headed towards the Buda side to "encircle the police", but this was more of a humorous suggestion. There are still a good number of protesters on the sidewalk, but there is no longer much movement, and the trams are running again.
