After a series of high profile spills at sea, MEPs and governments have agreed that new pollution controls must extend to maritime freight, despite opposition from the EU executive.

Following an agreement between the Council and the European Parliament, companies dealing with plastic pellets will be subject to stricter rules in the future.

HOA says yes to shipping reforms

After returning from a committee session, the House of Assembly passed a bill that members said is designed to update maritime rules.

The regulation aims to reduce (by 50%) the fees imposed by the European Union on shipping in the Member States to maintain the prices of ferry tickets.
