Gelderland freezes permit applications for nitrogen activities in four areas

Parts of Gelderland will be locked down. In certain areas, no permits will be issued for new activities for a year and a half if they release extra nitrogen. This concerns zones near De Veluwe, Landgoederen Brummen, Willinks Weust and Bekendelle. Affected entrepreneurs are shocked by this 'nitrogen lockdown'.

Over the next year and a half, the province will not issue permits for activities that release additional nitrogen around protected nature reserves.

There are concerns in Gelderland politics about the consequences of the nitrogen plans that the province announced on Wednesday for housing. Gelderland will freeze licensing in 500-meter zones around vulnerable nature on the Veluwe and near Winterswijk for a year and a half for new activities that emit nitrogen.
