The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that the incident with a provocative plaque on the mass grave of UPA soldiers in Poland is aimed at undermining the Ukrainian-Polish dialogue in the sphere of national memory.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhoy, at the request of Ukrainian diplomats, Poles are working to remove the illegally installed plaque and preserve the integrity of the original monument.

Ukraine believes that the change of a memorial plaque on a collective mound of UPA soldiers in Poland is an act of vandalism and a deliberate provocation that is at the hands of Russia.

The Lubaczów police have initiated proceedings in the case of desecrating a place of remembrance in connection with the replacement of plaques on the grave of UPA members in Monasterz in the Podkarpacie region - a reporter from RMF FM has learned. The new plaque has an inscription that Ukrainians treat as provocative.
