PTCL to link new internet cable today

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has announced the completion of the Africa-1 submarine internet cable at Sea View Beach, Karachi, which will come online by 2026.
The Africa-1 cable, part of an eight-company consortium, has a speed of 96 terabits per second and aims to improve Pakistan's digital infrastructure and connectivity.
Pakistan ranks 98th in mobile internet speeds and 144th in fixed broadband speeds, with a need for improved digital infrastructure, highlighted by Muhammad Umair Nizam of the Pakistan Software Houses Association.
Syed Muhammad Shoaib of PTCL remarked that the Africa-1 partnership aligns with Pakistan's Digital Vision 2030, aiming to bridge the digital divide.
