PVV MP Emiel van Dijk criticised the Public Prosecution Service's policy of handing out sentences to suspects more often in a debate. Last month it was announced that the Public Prosecution Service wants to make more use of so-called penalty orders, whereby it can, for example, impose a community service order or fine without the intervention of a judge. This concerns criminal offences for which a prison sentence of up to six years is imposed.
